PMTC & tenstreet Announce Recipients of the
2024 Young Leaders Education Bursary

The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada, along with the sponsor of the YLG Bursary awards, tenstreet & The PMTC Young Leaders Group, were pleased to present 2 deserving individuals with the 2024 “PMTC-tenstreet- Young Leaders Group Education Bursary” at its Annual General Meeting & Conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  1 bursary was available to PMTC Members companies, while the other bursary was made available to students in Mohawk College's Supply Chain Management Program, thanks to tenstreet's sponsorship of the bursary awards as well as the Mohawk Supply Chain Program.

Through a partnership developed in 2022, up to 5 students in the Mohawk program are provided a 1-year free YLG PMTC Membership. Each one of these students is assigned a mentor from PMTC's Young Leaders Group and are taken to industry events to be introduced to the industry, make connections, and make for an easier transition into the field. 5 students were with us in Niagara Falls, and one of them was awarded a bursary.

Both awards were presented by PMTC's YLG Board Member Stephanie Carruth & Ed Johannes from tenstreet.

“These awards present emerging young leaders with the funds to take 2 of the 4 courses required to complete the PMTC Logistics Management Graduate Program,” stated PMTC President Mike Millian. “These courses are offered through CITT, a leader in Transportation Logistics training. When completed, this will arm these individuals with the skills and confidence necessary to climb the ranks in their organisation and help them become a successful Leader. We also believe this award will help promote investment in the training needs of our future leaders.”

The 2024 recipients are Sravani from Mohawk College and Eric Robinson from Wellington Group of Companies

Sravani Nellutla, Mohawk College
Sravani is an international student from India who has worked hard to maintain a high academic standing, making the Dean's honour roll while earning an overall average of 92%.  Sravani was an excellent student according to a professor from Mohawk who indicated she attended every class on time, participated in all online activities, & always participated by asking questions & providing answers. Sravani also has Bachelor of Retail Management & Information Technology from St. Francis College, India, attending from 2016-2019.

In addition to her education, Sravani has over 7 years of experience working in the supply chain, working for Dupont, Sri Biotech & International Duty Free, all based out of India. While at Dupont, Sravani undertook a project to rectify a backlog of over 8000 aging orders that were pending delivery to multiple locations in North America. By leveraging reporting tools like SAP & EDI, as well as employing a systematic approach to data analysis, Sravani & her team were able to reduce the backlog to 1500 orders. Through the process they implemented lean measures to improve supplier performance, streamlined processes & enhanced efficiency to reduce costs for DuPont.
Sravani puts her all into everything she does, including her volunteering & community service endeavors. She has taken on the responsibilities of organizing donation drives, food services & environmental activities, such as plant a sapling & recycling bin organizing.
Sravani plans to use this bursary as an opportunity to invest in her personal & professional growth. Sravani's eagerness & passion for the industry, coupled with her amazing track record to date, make her an ideal & deserving recipient of this bursary, who we have no doubt will put in the effort to excel in the supplied courses from CITT.

Eric Robinson, Wellington Group of Companies

Eric joined Wellington in January of 2022, joining his father & brother, who also work at Wellington. Eric's career in the industry began well before that, however, in January of 2014. His interests were sparked from hearing great things about it from his father. His dad would talk about how he enjoyed the challenges & the many great people he meet through the years working in the industry.
In 2014 Eric volunteered for a logistics company in Mississauga, working for free, so he could learn more about the industry & see if it was one he wanted to enter into to make a career. Eric was booking trucks to cover loads, going to the warehouse to load them, creating paperwork to clear customs, & billing the freight. Eric fell in love with the many different roles, & within 2 weeks was hired to work for the firm.

Over his 10 years to date in the industry, Eric has worked as a Dispatcher , Logistics Account Manager, Logistics Operation Manager, & now is in his current role as a Sr Account Manager with Wellington. Having these different roles, at different companies along the way, has allowed Eric to learn many different skills & roles, as well as learn from some great people along the way. Eric says at Wellington, his has found his “forever” home. Wellington has provided Eric with the ability to advance his career & learn on a daily basis, from some of the industry's best leaders. Eric has shown his willingness & eagerness to learn, as prior to being awarded this bursary, he had already enrolled in the CITT CCLP program and began his first course in January. Eric has full plans to earn his full CCLP. He is eager to learn even more about the industry & is looking forward to learning more about the different modes & methods through this program.
Wellington indicates that Eric's thirst for knowledge is evident, & that he took more notes & asked more questions through on boarding than they had seen from most candidates before him. Eric is often one of the first people at the office each day, & always willing to help others, learn & expand. Eric also volunteers at many different community initiatives, such as the Puslinch Santa Clause Parade, fundraiser for sick kids & cancer research, as well as handing out meals for the less fortunate at Christmas. This bursary will help Eric continue learning in the industry to further advance himself, to the benefit of both Wellington & himself. Eric's future in the industry is bright!
